Steve Sims Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created to honor the life of Steven Louis Sims, a beloved Northwest College administrator, mentor, coach, and community leader whose impact on students and colleagues continues to this day.

Steve Sims dedicated much of his professional career to NWC, first serving in Admissions and Veterans Affairs from 1974-1986 before returning as Dean of Students from 1988-1998. Known for his genuine care for students and his belief in the value of higher education, Sims built lasting relationships with countless students and families during his time at Northwest College.

Beyond campus, Sims was deeply involved in the community of Powell. He coached baseball, served with the Powell Rotary Club, participated in Ducks Unlimited and so much more. Friends remember him as a passionate Wyoming outdoorsman, an advocate for students, and a man devoted to his family.

Established in 2009, this scholarship provides support to graduating high school seniors from Wyoming or Montana who enroll full time at NWC. Preference is given to students who demonstrate leadership qualities, involvement potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact on campus. Financial need may also be considered during the selection process.
