Sherman Family Scholarship

Sherman Family Scholarship

Originally from Montana, ‘Bud’ Sherman stopped in Worland on his way home from leaving the Navy when he saw an advisement for a job. Worland is where he met his future wife and where the Sherman Family story began. Bud and Sharon made a wonderful life for their family in the Big Horn Basin by working with their hands. With the help of their son, they owned and ran a Plumbing & Heating business in the community until Bud’s retirement and the death of their son, Boyd. At some point, all five of the Sherman children worked as part of the family business.

NWC Employee Holly Berryman started the Sherman Family Scholarship to honor her family’s legacy by helping students at Northwest College. Although none of her family were college educated, they were lifelong learners, exceptionally smart, extremely hardworking, and made a very successful life through a trade. Northwest knows the trades are valuable and honorable careers and the College provides a place for everyone. Whether students are more academically focused or hands-on type people, there is an NWC program to help individuals continue their learning journeys.
