Shane Childers Casper Chase Fallen Soldiers Scholarship Endowment

Shane Childers Casper Chase Fallen Soldiers Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2015, this scholarship endowment was created to honor the memory, service, and sacrifice of Wyoming-connected fallen service members while supporting students pursuing higher education at Northwest College.

This scholarship commemorates Marine Second Lieutenant Therrel “Shane” Childers, who was killed in action on March 21, 2003, while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lt. Childers was the first American casualty of the conflict. A native of a military family with strong ties to Powell and the state of Wyoming, Shane was remembered by those who knew him as a natural leader-serious, focused, and deeply committed to serving his country.

Through the generosity of donors and matching support from the State of Wyoming, this endowment is awarded to degree seeking students enrolled in six or more credit hours at NWC. Applicants must be Wyoming residents and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
