Reece Schleich Wrestling Scholarship Endowment

The Reece Schleich Wrestling Fund was started in 2002 by Reece’s parents Larry and TK Schleich after he lost his life in a dirt bike accident. NWC’s wrestling coach Jim Zeigler was a mentor and a good friend to Reece and Reece loved wrestling. He was the 2001 USA Wrestling State Champion at 120 lbs, and during his Freshman year of Wrestling at Powell High School he was voted “Most Valuable Freshman Wrestler” and “Most Improved Freshman Wrestler.”

In the words of his family, “The Reece Schleich Wrestling Fund is in memory of our younger son, who did not know the meaning of quit. Reece was small in stature, enormous in heart, very strong and loved to lift weights, wrestle, play football, play baseball, ride dirt bike, and just hang out with family and friends. He could walk into a room and make you smile. . . .he loved his life. This scholarship should inspire the person who receives it to work long and hard, as Reece did, to meet his goal no matter where you are in life. Reece meant so much to so many. . . .be that type of person.”
