Peg Frisby Memorial Scholarship
Peg Frisby was born and raised in Cody by pioneering parents who had arrived in Cody before it was officially a town. She attended Cody High School and the University of Wyoming. She loved music and was a natural pianist who created a unique ragtime sound from even the plainest of songs. She played drums in her high school band and was a born harmonizer both vocally and socially.
After a near fatal car accident during WWII, she married her college sweetheart, Bob Frisby, and the two of them built the Frontier Motel in Cody. Peg worked long hours to make it a successful enterprise.
Peg was the consummate volunteer, always eager to do what she could to help others and nurture her community. She was a founding member of Cody’s “Sweet Adelines” and a member of a chorus of legislative spouses who regularly entertained in Cheyenne. She sang in the Cody Methodist Choir for 30 years.
Bob and Peg traveled the world, including the South Seas, Australia and New Zealand, Africa, Central and South America, and made numerous trips in the U.S. They had three children—Bob, Don, and Gloria—and six grandchildren.
Bob created this permanent scholarship to honor Peg and to help young people achieve their dreams. It was his hope that the scholarship’s recipients would be inspired to model Peg’s joyous love of life and dedication to serving others.
