Norman L and Ethel Wood Scholarship
This scholarship honors the life and legacy of Norman “Pete” and Ethel Wood, whose lives were defined by hard work, education, and a deep connection to Northwest College.
As lifelong learners, Pete and Ethal dedicated their careers to education. Their love for children and young adults left a lasting impact on generations of students. They were longtime residents and farmers on the west edge of Powell. Together, they built a life grounded in agriculture, community involvement, and appreciation for the outdoors. They enjoyed nature, especially birdwatching, and spent time hiking, fishing, and exploring the Clark’s Fork Canyon even into their later years. They were active in their church and community organizations reflecting a lifelong commitment to service. Through their estate, the Woods established this endowed scholarship to support future generations of NWC students.
The Norman L. And Ethel Wood Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and a strong commitment to their academic pursuits. Preference is given to non-traditional students who meet the scholarship criteria. The award is designed to help cover essential educational expenses, including tuition, fees, and books, easing the financial burden and allowing the recipients to focus on their studies.
