Mike Masterson Memorial Music Scholarship Endowment

With a big, welcoming smile and engaging personality, Professor Emeritus Mike Masterson was a faculty fixture at Northwest College from 1977 to 2010. He served in a variety of positions at NWC over his 33-year career, including low brass instructor, director of vocal music and vocal jazz, music program coordinator and Visual and Performing Arts division chair. His scholarly work ran the gamut from Buffalo Bill to Bob Dylan, but student engagement and growth were the priority in all facets of his work.

Mike passed away in 2023, after a prolonged illness. His family – wife Pam and children Melina and Anthony – established this scholarship so Mike’s legacy of helping students will live on at Northwest College. It provides preference to first generation students, like Mike was, because he believed in the power of education to change lives.
