Mary Elaine Housel Scholarship Endowment

Mary Elaine Bever Housel grew up as a Homesteader’s daughter in Garland, Wy. After graduating from Powell High School, she attended the University of Wyoming with degrees in Commerce and Education. She married Jerry Winters Housel in Cody where they resided throughout their lives and was mother to four children – Bob, Jerry Laine, John and Peter.

Mary Elaine was a staunch supporter of Northwest College, attending many writing, painting, literature and history classes. She often chucked she was working on another degree because she had accumulated over 30 credit hours from NWC. She rarely missed special programs, plays or musical performances offered by NWC and her family continued bring her to Powell when she was no longer able to drive herself.

A fervent humanitarian, Mary Elaine created a scholarship fund to support individuals working to provide their families a better life – especially single parents. Her endowment also supports music majors to honor one of her life’s passions.
