Loren Evans Burlington Class of 1973 Scholarship Endowment
Having lived in several states, Loren Evans ended up at Burlington High School in his senior year in Burlington, Wyoming. College was a desire, however, how to get there was hard to imagine. One of his teachers applied for a scholarship from the Big Horn County Commissioners, and he secured funding for tuition to Northwest College. Fifty years later, he is ‘giving back’ to provide scholarships at NWC for a Burlington High School graduate as well as another high school grad from Big Horn County.
Mr. Evans also experienced a medical emergency during his second semester at Northwest and was hospitalized for several days. A local benefactor covered his expenses, so he didn’t have to drop out of school. He is designating that a portion of his endowment income be held annually to help defray student emergency costs during the year such as gas money or car repairs, medical needs, special field trips, and such.
