John DeWitt Memorial Scholarship
John DeWitt, Jr., was a scholar who viewed education as a means for individuals to more fully appreciate the human experience and contribute to civic life in a constructive and thoughtful manner. He lived out this belief as Northwest College’s Dean of Students from 1968-1988. A committed, energetic, and principled educator, he encouraged the development of both individual students and community organizations. For years he knew every full-time student by name and his robust handshake was legendary. Prior to his retirement from Northwest in 1988, he was elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives, where he served his fellow citizens until his death in 1996.
