Hazel Voerding Memorial Soroptimist Scholarship Endowment
Hazel Voerding was a founding member of the Cody Soroptimist Club in 1973. Through her 30 years of service, she worked to help women gain their independence through education.
As a young woman Hazel always wanted to be a nurse, but due to life’s circumstances she was never afforded the chance. Upon her death the Cody Soroptimist Chapter wanted to honor Hazel by helping women reach their educational dreams, and in a way fulfilling Hazel’s dream, too.
Members of the Voerding family have resided in Park County for over 60 years and some attended Northwest College. Their belief in ‘helping those in your own backyard’ made the investment in a scholarship at NWC a perfect choice.
