Dave Bonner Athletic Scholarship Endowment

Dave Bonner grew up in Powell and was an avid sports enthusiast. He was also a talented writer and found a job writing sports stories as a high school boy for his hometown newspaper, the Powell Tribune. Dave pursued a journalism career at the University of Wyoming and covered sports there, too.

Bonner would land back in Powell at the newspaper in 1964 and eventually become publisher and owner of the Tribune. Over the years, he would teach journalism classes at Northwest College and serve on boards for the Trapper Booster Club and the NWC Foundation. He’s been a major donor to facility projects and scholarships alike.

Dave’s children, Shelby, Bran and Toby, originally started a journalism in Dave’s name to honor his 50+ year Tribune legacy, but when NWC eliminated its journalism major, it was just as fitting to shift the scholarship support to athletics. Dave’s connections to Hank Cabre, Ken Rochlitz and many others have been genuine and long-standing. Plus, he loves getting to root for his sponsored team players. Go Trappers!
