Carolyn Danko Education Scholarship
Carolyn has loved school ever since she dreamed of being a teacher in first grade. She wanted to share that opportunity with others who felt the same calling. After attending college (University of North Dakota, Kansas State University, and the University of Wyoming) Carolyn took her first job teaching Home Economics in Pine Bluffs where she had grades 7-12. Over her 40 years of teaching, she also taught third grade and kindergarten and eventually earned a Masters’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and began a 20-year career in Title 1, working with children who needed some extra help with their education. She facilitated the Accelerated Reading Program at Westside Elementary School, which shared her love of reading. She always knew that she would go to college, and her family started saving even before she attended first grade. Even then, she knew the value of education as she wanted to be prepared for a real job when she graduated. Carolyn served as a trustee on the NWC Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2022 and was a member of the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees for 12 years.
