Amy Wroe Bechtel Scholarship Endowment
Community—a word that is defined by the people and culture in Powell and at Northwest College. This was true for JoAnne Wroe, Amy Wroe Bechtel’s mother in the days and years after her daughter’s mysterious disappearance. The community came together and supported the Wroe family as they continued to search for 23-year-old Amy. Amy was a runner who competed for the University of Wyoming track team. She was last seen running in the mountains outside of Lander in 1997. Her family established a recovery fund to help pay for search expenses and folded that money into an endowment in her name as the case grew cold. Her mom explained, “We know that this decision would please her. Our children have achieved great success in their lives as a result of their higher education accomplishments, which they truly value. We hope that this scholarship will help others to achieve their goals.”
