Alan and Alayne Jones Scholarship Endowment

Alan Jones and Alayne Coorough were high school sweethearts at Powell High School who attended Northwest College together. Following their graduation from NWC in 1961, they married and moved to Laramie where each completed a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming.

They settled in Thermopolis in 1963 to open a branch of the family business, Dick Jones Trucking. Two years later, Alan joined the main operation in Powell and they settled back home. Alayne dedicated herself to raising their two children, LeAnne and Mitch. She was a consummate homemaker and participated in several women’s organizations. Alan was committed to business and community service including Kiwanis, the local hospital board and was elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives where he served for nine years.

Alan also served as a member of the Northwest College Foundation Board, so the Jones family chose to invest in providing quality educational experiences for students like they had experienced here in their youth. And because Alan was an avid Trapper athletic fan, a portion of their scholarship proceeds is also provided to support student athletes at NWC.
